Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 667-9

  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Dower: A widow
  • Property: means property (real, personal, or mixed), an interest in property (including fee simple, leasehold, life estate, reversionary interest, and any other estate under applicable law), or other interests that can be subject to the lien of a mortgage. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 667-1

If the mortgage was executed by a man having at the time no lawful wife, or if the mortgagor being married, his wife joined in the deed in token of her release of dower, the sale of the property in the mode aforesaid shall be effectual to bar all claim and possibility of dower in the property.
