- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
- Bonded wine warehouse: means a licensed warehouse within the state of Idaho that is solely authorized to store and handle wine. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Bonded wine warehouse license: means a license that authorizes a bonded wine warehouse to solely store and handle wine. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Dessert wine: means only those wines that contain more than sixteen percent (16%) alcohol by volume, but do not exceed twenty-four percent (24%) alcohol by volume, are grape-based, and are fortified through the addition of wine-based spirits or brandy made from grapes. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Director: means the director of the Idaho state police. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Distributor: means a person to whom a wine distributor’s license has been issued. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Electronic funds transfer: The transfer of money between accounts by consumer electronic systems-such as automated teller machines (ATMs) and electronic payment of bills-rather than by check or cash. (Wire transfers, checks, drafts, and paper instruments do not fall into this category.) Source: OCC
- Executor: A male person named in a will to carry out the decedent
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. Source: Federal Reserve
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- Importer: means a person to whom a wine importer’s license has been issued. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Month: means a calendar month, unless otherwise expressed. See Idaho Code 73-114
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Person: includes an individual, firm, copartnership, association, corporation, or any group or combination acting as a unit, and includes the plural as well as the singular unless the intent to give a more limited meaning is disclosed by the context in which it is used. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Property: includes both real and personal property. See Idaho Code 73-114
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
- Retail wine license: means a license issued by the director authorizing a person to sell table wine and/or dessert wine at retail for consumption off the licensed premises. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Retailer: means a person to whom a retail wine license has been issued. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories; and the words "United States" may include the District of Columbia and territories. See Idaho Code 73-114
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- Table wine: shall mean any alcoholic beverage containing not more than sixteen percent (16%) alcohol by volume obtained by the fermentation of the natural sugar content of fruits or other agricultural products containing sugar whether or not other ingredients are added. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Theater: means a room, place or outside structure for performances or readings of dramatic literature, plays or dramatic representations of an art form not in violation of any provision of Idaho law. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
- Vintner: means a person who manufactures, bottles, or sells table wine or dessert wine to importers for resale within this state other than a licensed "winery" as herein defined. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Wine: includes table wine and dessert wine, unless the context requires otherwise. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Wine by the drink license: means a license to sell table wine or dessert wine by the individual glass or opened bottle at retail, for consumption on the premises only. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Winery: means a place, premises or establishment within the state of Idaho for the manufacture or bottling of table wine or dessert wine for sale. See Idaho Code 23-1303
- Winery license: means a license issued by the director authorizing a person to maintain a winery. See Idaho Code 23-1303
