- Administrative schools: means and applies to all elementary schools and kindergartens within a district that are situated ten (10) miles or less from both the other elementary schools and the principal administrative office of the district and all secondary schools within a district that are situated fifteen (15) miles or less from other secondary schools of the district. - Administrative staff: means those who hold an administrator certificate and are employed as a superintendent, an elementary or secondary school principal, or are assigned administrative duties over and above those commonly assigned to teachers. See Idaho Code 33-1001

Idaho Code 33-1001Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant. Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization Career ladder: means the compensation table used for determining the allocations districts receive for instructional staff and pupil service staff based on specific performance criteria and is made up of a residency compensation rung and a professional compensation rung. Discretionary spending: Spending (budget authority and outlays)controlled in annual appropriations acts. district: means any public school district organized under the laws of this state, including specially chartered school districts. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other. Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006. Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs. Instructional staff: means those who hold an Idaho certificate issued under section 33-1201, Idaho Code, and who are either involved in the direct instruction of a student or group of students or who serve in a mentor or teacher leader position for individuals who hold an Idaho certificate issued under section 33-1201, Idaho Code. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Intellectual disability: means significantly subaverage general intellectual functioning that is accompanied by significant limitations in adaptive functioning in at least two (2) of the following skill areas: communication, self-care, home living, social or interpersonal skills, use of community resources, self-direction, functional academic skills, work, leisure, health and safety. See Idaho Code 73-114 Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity. Local salary schedule: means a compensation table adopted by a school district or public charter school, which table is used for determining moneys to be distributed for instructional staff and pupil service staff salaries. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Measurable student achievement: means the measurement of student academic achievement or growth within a given interval of instruction for those students who have been enrolled in and attended eighty percent (80%) of the interval of instruction. See Idaho Code 73-114 Performance criteria: means the standards specified for instructional staff and pupil service staff to demonstrate teaching proficiency for a given compensation rung. See Idaho Code 73-114 Pupil service staff: means those who provide services to students, but are not involved in direct instruction of those students, and hold a pupil personnel services certificate. See Idaho Code 33-1001 pupils in average daily attendance: means the aggregate number of days enrolled students are present, divided by the number of days of school in the reporting period; provided, however, that students for whom no Idaho school district is a home district shall not be considered in such computation. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Special education: means specially designed instruction or speech/language therapy at no cost to the parent to meet the unique needs of a student who is a child with a disability, including instruction in the classroom, the home, hospitals, institutions, and other settings; instruction in physical education; speech therapy and language therapy; transition services; travel training; assistive technology services; and vocational education. See Idaho Code 33-1001 State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories; and the words "United States" may include the District of Columbia and territories. Student success indicators: means measurable indicators of student achievement or growth, other than academic, within a predefined interval of time for a specified group of students. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Support program: means the educational support program as described in section 33-1002, Idaho Code, the transportation support program described in section 33-1006, Idaho Code, and the exceptional education support program as described in section 33-1007, Idaho Code. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Support unit: means a function of average daily attendance used in the calculations to determine financial support provided to the public school districts. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Teacher: means any person employed in a teaching, instructional, supervisory, educational administrative or educational and scientific capacity in any school district. See Idaho Code 33-1001 Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
