Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 105 ILCS 5/6-21
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Upon request, the State‘s Attorney of the county, other than a county of over 3,000,000 inhabitants, where the regional superintendent’s office is located shall act as the legal representative of the regional board of school trustees; however, where matters arise which are within the exclusive jurisdiction of another State’s Attorney, that State’s Attorney shall provide legal representation.
