- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
A suit, action or other proceeding lawfully commenced by or against the head of any agency or other officer of the State, in his official capacity or in relation to the discharge of his official duties, does not abate, by reason of the taking effect of any reorganization under this Act.
