Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 15 ILCS 321/10

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The purpose of the Foundation shall be to promote library programs for all types of libraries in the State, enhancing statewide library awareness to the people of Illinois; to make grants and gifts in aid and support of the goal; and to engage generally in other lawful endeavors consistent with the foregoing purposes. The Foundation shall not exceed the provisions of the General Not For Profit Corporation Act of 1986.
