Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 15 ILCS 410/11
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Any employee subject to the jurisdiction of the “Personnel Code” as established under the Governor of the State of Illinois or any employee subject to the jurisdiction of the Secretary of State Merit Employment Code or any employee subject to the jurisdiction of the University Civil Service System of Illinois who is an active employee and has been certified under one of the above-mentioned merit systems may, with the approval of the Director of Personnel, be transferred to a comparable position of employment subject to the provisions of this Code. Said employee shall retain the same status in the merit system established by this Code as held under the “Personnel Code”, the Secretary of State Merit Employment Code, or the University Civil Service System of Illinois.
