Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 205 ILCS 510/1.5

  • individual: shall include every infant member of the species homo sapiens who is born alive at any stage of development. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.36
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     It shall not be lawful for an individual or business entity to conduct business in this State using the word “pawn”, “pawnshop”, or “pawnbroker” in connection with the business or to transact business in this State in a manner which has a substantial likelihood of misleading the public by implying that the business is a pawnshop, without first obtaining a license from the Commissioner.
