- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
Of the citizen members first appointed, as designated by the Governor at the time of each appointment, seven citizen members shall serve on the Council for a term of one year, seven citizen members shall serve for a term of two years, and nine citizen members shall serve for a term of three years. Any member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of the term for which his predecessor was appointed shall be appointed for the remainder of such term. Upon the expiration of the initial terms set forth herein, subsequent terms shall be for a period of three years. Members shall be eligible for reappointment. This amendatory Act of 1985 shall not apply to members of the Council holding office on the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1985.
