The Department shall have jurisdiction over the following described areas which are hereby designated as State Historic Sites, State Memorials, and Miscellaneous Properties. These sites have been deemed to have a State, national, or international level of historical significance and the stewardship and caretaking responsibilities to protect and promote are hereby bestowed upon the Department:

    Albany Mounds State Historic Site, Whiteside County;

Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 20 ILCS 3405/6

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
