Under the Illinois Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |
---|---|---|
Class A misdemeanor | up to 1 year | up to $2,500 |
Class B misdemeanor | up to 6 months | up to $1,500 |
Any violation of Sections 4, 6 or 7 of this Act, unless otherwise specified, is a Class A misdemeanor for a first violation and a Class 4 felony for a second or subsequent violation. Any violation of administrative rules adopted under this Act is a Class B misdemeanor. Each disturbance of human remains, unregistered graves, grave markers, or grave artifacts constitutes a separate offense.
