Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 20 ILCS 3440/16.1

  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Department may create burial sites on Department owned lands for the reburial of repatriated Native American human remains, unregistered graves, grave markers, or grave artifacts after tribal consultation with the federally recognized tribes with geographical and cultural affiliation with Illinois. The burial sites shall not be used by the public and shall be protected by the State of Illinois.
