- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Restitution: The court-ordered payment of money by the defendant to the victim for damages caused by the criminal action.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
The State‘s Attorney of the county in which a violation of this Act or administrative rules is alleged to have occurred, or the Attorney General, may be requested by the Department to initiate criminal prosecutions and seek restitution, civil damages, injunctive relief and any other appropriate relief. The Department shall co-operate with the State’s Attorney or the Attorney General. Persons wishing to report any violations of this Act shall contact the Department.
