Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 20 ILCS 3960/15.1

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • individual: shall include every infant member of the species homo sapiens who is born alive at any stage of development. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.36
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     No individual who, as a member of the State Board, or as an employee of the State, shall, by reason of his performance of any duty, function, or activity required of, or authorized to be undertaken by this Act, be liable for the payment of damages under any law of the State, if he has acted within the scope of such duty, function, or activity, has exercised due care, and has acted, with respect to that performance, without malice toward any person affected by it.
