- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Beginning January 15, 2014, and each January 15 thereafter, the Department shall submit to the General Assembly, the Department’s Long-Term Care Facility Advisory Board, and the State Ombudsman an accounting of all federal and State fines received by the Department in the preceding fiscal year by the fund in which they have been deposited. For each fund, the report shall show the source of all moneys that are deposited into each fund and the purpose and amount of all expenditures from each fund.
