- individual: shall include every infant member of the species homo sapiens who is born alive at any stage of development. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.36
Unless specified otherwise and when used in context of accident and health insurance policy benefits, coverage, terms, or conditions required to be provided under this Article, “policy of individual or group accident and health insurance”, as used in this Article, does not include any coverage or policy that provides an excepted benefit, as that term is defined in Section 2791(c) of the federal Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 300gg–91). Nothing in this amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly applies to a policy of liability, workers’ compensation, automobile medical payment, or limited scope dental or vision benefits insurance issued under this Code.
