- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
General Assistance programs in local governments that do not receive State funds shall continue to be governed by Sections 6-1 through 6-10, as applicable, as well as other relevant parts of this Code and other laws. However, notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, any unit of local government that does not receive State funds may implement a General Assistance program that complies with Section 6-11 and 6-11a. So long as the program complies with either Section 6-11 or 6-12, the program shall not be deemed out of compliance with or in violation of this Code.
