Whenever the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission or the Court of Claims makes an award under the terms of the Workers’ Compensation Act or the Workers’ Occupational Diseases Act for personal injuries or death of any State employee, and such award is approved by the Department of Central Management Services, such award shall be certified to the State Comptroller. Upon the approval of such award by the Department of Central Management Services, the Comptroller is directed to draw his warrant payable to the payee named, for the amount so certified, payable from the General Revenue Fund, except in cases of compensation of employees of the Division of Highways, Department of Transportation, which shall be paid from the Road Fund.
