Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 30 ILCS 5/2-15

  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Office of the Auditor General shall operate a toll-free telephone hot line for the public to report allegations of fraud in the executive branch of State government. The Office may conduct audits concerning alleged fraud and, in appropriate circumstances, may refer allegations of fraud to law enforcement authorities or other governmental entities with jurisdiction over the alleged fraud. The Office shall adopt rules for the implementation of this Section.
