Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 405 ILCS 22/40
- Lawsuit: A legal action started by a plaintiff against a defendant based on a complaint that the defendant failed to perform a legal duty, resulting in harm to the plaintiff.
No lawsuit or any other type of legal action brought under the terms of this Act shall be sustainable in a court of law or equity unless all conditions, stipulations, and provisions of the Program have been complied with, and unless the suit is brought within 12 months after the event which is the subject of the legal action.
