- Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
The employer of any employee who is receiving ordinary disability benefit or duty disability benefit shall contribute amounts ordinarily contributed by such employee and employer for service annuity and widow’s service annuity and the annual increase in retirement annuity during any period for which disability benefit is paid to the employee, and such amounts shall be credited to the employee in lieu of salary deductions.
