Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 40 ILCS 5/16-189.1

  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Month: means a calendar month, and the word "year" a calendar year unless otherwise expressed; and the word "year" alone, is equivalent to the expression "year of our Lord. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.10
     Retirement annuities and other benefits, unless otherwise specified in this Article, shall be paid in 12 monthly installments as of the first day of each month and shall cover the preceding month or proportionate part thereof then due. Provided, however, upon the death of a member in receipt of a benefit, an annuitant or a beneficiary, benefits shall be paid through the last day of the month in which death occurs.
