Under the Illinois Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |
---|---|---|
Class A misdemeanor | up to 1 year | up to $2,500 |
Class C misdemeanor | up to 30 days | up to $1,500 |
Any person convicted of violating Section 1 of this Act, shall for the first offense, be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor and for the second and each subsequent offense shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
