Under the Illinois Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |
---|---|---|
Class A misdemeanor | up to 1 year | up to $2,500 |
Class C misdemeanor | up to 30 days | up to $1,500 |
Any person who violates Section 1 or Section 2 of this Act is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor for the first offense, and a Class A misdemeanor for any subsequent offenses.
