Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 45 ILCS 105/3

  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
     Vacancies occurring in the office of any commissioner shall be filled by appointment by the Chairman of the County Board that made the original appointment of that commissioner, with the advice and consent of the respective county board, for the unexpired term. Any vacancies occurring during the transition for the implementation of this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly that were appointed by the Governor, and not by the respective County Board Chairmen, shall be filled by the appointment by the County Board Chairman of Madison County if occurring in the years 2004, 2006, or 2008 or by the County Board Chairman of St. Clair County if occurring in the years 2005 or 2007, each with the advice and consent of the respective county board.
