- Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.

Police protection in townships outside incorporated municipalities. The county board of any county may contract, with advice and consent of the sheriff in the county in which the request for contract services is made, based upon a determination of law enforcement needs of the area in which contract services are sought, with any township in the county to furnish police protection outside of any incorporated municipality in the township.
