Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 490/35

  • Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The second Monday in October of each year shall be a holiday to be known as Christopher Columbus Day and to be observed throughout the State as a day to hold appropriate ceremonies and exercises in commemoration of the discoverer of the New World and his discovery of October 12, 1492.
