Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 605 ILCS 5/6-203

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Municipalities: has the meaning established in Section 1 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.27
     Except as provided in Section 6-301, nothing in this Code shall be construed as vesting in highway commissioners any power or jurisdiction over the streets and alleys in municipalities.
