- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
At an annual or special town meeting, a township board of trustees may by resolution authorize the donation of surplus public real estate to a not-for-profit corporation including, but not limited to, a historical society. The resolution may set forth the not-for-profit corporation’s intended use of the property, and the board of trustees may require that the transfer be subject to a reversion of the property if the property is no longer used for its original intended use by the not-for-profit corporation. The resolution shall authorize the township supervisor to execute all documents necessary to complete the transfer of the property.
