Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 65 ILCS 5/11-37-1

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     The term “electrical equipment” as used in this Division 37 means conductors and other equipment installed for the utilization of electricity for light, heat, or power. It does not include radio apparatus or equipment for wireless reception of sounds and signals, and it does not include apparatus, conductors, or other equipment installed for or by public utilities, including common carriers, which are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Commerce Commission, for use in their operation as public utilities.
