Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 65 ILCS 5/7-7-1

  • Municipalities: has the meaning established in Section 1 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.27
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     This Division shall apply to consolidations of municipalities in this State in counties with less than 200,000 inhabitants, is alternative to any other method of unification allowed by law, and implements the provisions of Article VII, Section 12 of the Illinois Constitution.
