Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 705 ILCS 405/4-17
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
At the adjudicatory hearing, the court shall first consider only the question whether the minor is a person described in Section 4-3. The standard of proof and the rules of evidence in the nature of civil proceedings in this State are applicable to proceedings under this Article.
