- Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Nothing in this Article shall divest the authority of the State‘s Attorney to file appropriate charges for violations of this Article if he or she has probable cause to believe that the violations have occurred.
