- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
The provisions of the Illinois Municipal Code shall not be effective within the area of the District insofar as the provisions of that Act conflict with the provisions of this Act or grant substantially the same powers to any municipal corporation that are granted to the District by this Act.
