It shall be the duty of the Authority to promote, operate and maintain expositions, conventions, and theatrical, sports and cultural activities from time to time in the metropolitan area and in connection therewith to arrange, finance and maintain industrial, cultural, educational, theatrical, sports, trade and scientific exhibits and to construct, equip and maintain auditorium, exposition and office buildings for such purposes.
The provision of office space for rental and lease and the lease of air space over and appurtenant to such structures shall be deemed an integral function of the Authority.
The Authority is granted all rights and powers necessary to perform such duties.
