- Counterclaim: A claim that a defendant makes against a plaintiff.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
The defendant may file a counterclaim as in other civil actions or other defense which would have been proper if the action had been for the rent, and with like effect.
