Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 750 ILCS 36/314
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
An appeal may be taken from a final order in a proceeding under this Article in accordance with expedited appellate procedures which are or may be established by Supreme Court Rule. Unless the court enters a temporary emergency order under Section 204, the enforcing court may not stay an order enforcing a child-custody determination pending appeal.
