- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
“Authenticated copy” means (1) a certified copy if the office in which the record of the original is kept is in this State or (2) a copy exemplified in pursuance of the law of Congress in relation to records in foreign states if the office in which the record of the original is kept is not in this State.
