Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 765 ILCS 130/1
- Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
- County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
- Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
In counties under township organization the board of trustees shall be ex officio fence viewers in their respective towns. In counties not under township organization the presiding officer of the county board, with the advice and consent of the county board, at the annual meeting of the county board in December, shall appoint three fence viewers in each precinct, who shall hold their office for one year, and until their successors are appointed.
