Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 765 ILCS 820/1

  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • Legacy: A gift of property made by will.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     All cemetery associations, or companies incorporated for cemetery purposes, by any general or special law of this State may acquire by purchase, gift or legacy, and may hold, own and convey for burial purposes only, so much land as may be necessary for use as a cemetery or burial place for the dead.
