- Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Interrogatories: Written questions asked by one party of an opposing party, who must answer them in writing under oath; a discovery device in a lawsuit.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Penalties imposed upon officers and directors. Each officer and director of a corporation, domestic or foreign, who fails or refuses within the time prescribed by this Act to answer truthfully and fully interrogatories propounded to him or her by the Secretary of State in accordance with the provisions of this Act, or who signs any report or statement filed with the Secretary of State which is known to such officer or director to be false in any material statement or representation, or who votes for or consents to or otherwise knowingly participates in the making of a loan prohibited by Section 108.80 of this Act, commits a Class C misdemeanor.
