- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
The Secretary of State may destroy any records of his or her office relating to the administration of any laws relating to Motor Vehicle Franchise Act matters if the records have been maintained on file for 4 years. The records may be destroyed prior to the expiration of 4 years with the approval of the State Records Commission.
