Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 820 ILCS 219/145

  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     This Act does not affect any act done, ratified, or canceled, or any right occurring or established, or any action or proceeding had or commenced in an administrative, civil, or criminal cause, under the Safety Inspection and Education Act or the Health and Safety Act, or any standard or rule adopted under either of those Acts, before the effective date of this Act. An employee or public employer may enforce any such right under this Act. The Department, or the Attorney General or a State‘s Attorney, may prosecute or continue any such action or proceeding under this Act.
