- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
It shall be the duty of the Department of Labor to enforce the provisions of this Act and prosecute all violations of the same before any Court of competent jurisdiction in this State, and for that purpose the Department of Labor, its officers and duly authorized employees are hereby empowered to visit and inspect at all reasonable times, all places where work is done in compressed air.
