Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes > 415 ILCS 130 - Interstate Ozone Transport Oversight Act

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Foreclosure: A legal process in which property that is collateral or security for a loan may be sold to help repay the loan when the loan is in default. Source: OCC
  • Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
  • Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time.   • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
