Terms Used In Indiana Code 1-1-1-8.7

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
   Sec. 8.7. If a provision of P.L.224-2003 is found by a court with jurisdiction to be in violation of Article 4, § 23 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana, it is the intent of the general assembly that the provision be given general application.
