Sec. 4. (a) The
clerk of the circuit court for each county shall give notice to the director of the appropriate division of the opening or commencement of the estate of the patient or a responsible party in the county.

Terms Used In Indiana Code 12-24-15-4
- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Clerk: means the clerk of the court or a person authorized to perform the clerk's duties. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Judgment: means all final orders, decrees, and determinations in an action and all orders upon which executions may issue. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
(c) If a judgment is obtained in a suit brought under subsection (b), the judgment constitutes a lien against the part of the estate of the person described in the complaint.
