Sec. 1. This chapter applies to a nonprofit hospital corporation:

(1) in a city having a population of:

Terms Used In Indiana Code 16-23-7-1

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Population: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(A) more than one hundred ten thousand (110,000) and less than one hundred fifty thousand (150,000); or

(B) more than one hundred thousand (100,000) and less than one hundred ten thousand (110,000);

(2) in a city without a city hospital or other means for furnishing the city’s citizens hospital care; and

(3) that owns property in the city that:

(A) is used for hospital purposes; and

(B) has a value of at least four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000).
