Sec. 3. (a) The task force consists of the following thirteen (13) members:

(1) Three (3) members of the senate, appointed as follows:

Terms Used In Indiana Code 2-5-52-3

  • Minority leader: See Floor Leaders
  • President pro tempore: A constitutionally recognized officer of the Senate who presides over the chamber in the absence of the Vice President. The President Pro Tempore (or, "president for a time") is elected by the Senate and is, by custom, the Senator of the majority party with the longest record of continuous service.
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • task force: refers to the land use task force established by section 2 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 2-5-52-1
(A) Two (2) members appointed by the president pro tempore, one (1) of whom shall serve as co-chair of the task force.

(B) One (1) member appointed by the minority leader of the senate.

(2) Three (3) members of the house of representatives, appointed as follows:

(A) Two (2) members appointed by the speaker, one (1) of whom shall serve as co-chair of the task force.

(B) One (1) member appointed by the minority leader of the house.

(3) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has broad experience in the residential construction industry;

appointed by the governor.

(4) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has broad experience in agriculture;

appointed by the governor.

(5) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has broad experience in business and industry;

appointed by the governor.

(6) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has broad experience in the food and beverage industries;

appointed by the governor.

(7) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has expertise in local economic development;

appointed by the governor.

(8) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has expertise in local planning and zoning;

appointed by the governor.

(9) One (1) member who:

(A) is a resident of Indiana; and

(B) has broad experience in land development or real estate;

appointed by the governor.

     (b) A member appointed under subsection (a)(3) through (a)(9) may not be a member of the general assembly.

     (c) If a vacancy occurs on the task force, the appointing authority that appointed the member whose position is vacant shall appoint an individual to fill the vacancy.

     (d) An individual appointed to fill a vacancy must have the qualifications that a member appointed by the appointing authority must have.

     (e) An individual appointed to fill a vacancy serves for the remainder of the term of the member the individual is appointed to succeed.
