Sec. 13. (a) Subject to subsection (b), during the period beginning July 1, 2018, and ending June 30, 2020, the distressed unit appeal board may provide financial support to the Muncie Community school corporation in an amount that does not exceed the amount of compensation that would have been provided to an emergency manager of the Muncie Community school corporation if the school corporation had retained the designation of a distressed political subdivision.

Terms Used In Indiana Code 20-23-18-13

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
     (b) The total amount of the financial support provided under this section may not exceed one million dollars ($1,000,000).

     (c) Any financial assistance provided under subsection (a) shall be provided directly to the school corporation.
